IWO BATTLEGROUND FROM THE SOUTH -- This aerial view of Mount Suribachi,
around which battle for the island raged, was made from a Navy search
plane February 24, from a point south of the island. At the right can
be seen LSTs and other landing ships and craft which are nosed up on
the shore and supplying the fighting Marines.
