Inscriptions Typed in black ink on paper taped to verso and folded to recto BC: JUPITER VISITOR -- The Galileo Probe, the key that could unlock the secrets of the \ solar system when it visits Jupiter in August 1988, is checked by spacecraft manager \ William Butterworth before the probe enters a thermal-vacuum chamber for testing. The \ probe was built by Hughes Aircraft Company for NASA. Testing at the Space Simulation \ Laboratory of Hughes' Space and Communications Group in El Segundo, Calif., prepares \ the probe for its hour-long journey through the atmosphere of Jupiter. The probe and \ its companion spacecraft, the Galileo Orbiter, are scheduled for launch on the space \ shuttle in May 1986. The orbiter will relay the data the probe collects on Jupiter's \ atmosphere back to tracking stations on Earth. The orbiter will circle Jupiter for at \ least 20 months after the probe encounter. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory is respon- \ sible for project management. \ -0- \ From: John A.
