Entry 282 in Mackay's notebook (located in library): Daguerreotype of young negro slave man. Quite well dressed. Gilded jewelry, has corn cob pipe in hand. Slaves of very kind & generous masters were occasionally photographed. Attained from slave’s descendant, a S.F. negro. (.75)
