Where he originated saying “To the victors belong the spoils”. Governor of N.Y. 1833-1839. Sec. of War under Pres. Polk. 1845-1849. Sec. of State under Pres. Pierce, 1853-57. Able diplomat & statesman. Half-plate ambrotype. Cost about 20.00.
