Inscriptions Entry 498 in Mackay's notebook (located in library): Beautiful gold octagonal shaped brooch with black enamel-work trim. Contains daguerreotype of handsome delicate appearing young man, taken from engraving, painting, or miniature. Supposed to be daguerreotype taken from painting of English poet, John Keats, who was born in London in 1795, and died in Italy of consumption in 1821.
