The Royal Album
Bound volume containing photographic portraits of H.R.H. Edward Albert, Prince of Wales (1841-1910) and ten of his gentlemen attendants. Made by Jeremiah Gurney and Son at the Revere House, Boston, October 19th, 1860. Each photograph is mounted, one per page, on heavy, gold-edged board with a printed border and facsimile signature below. Several of the portraits are heavily retouched in the negative. This album was presented to Lord Lyons, one of the Prince's attendants (see 1976.0197.0002). A design representing the insignia of the Prince of Wales with the motto, in German "Ich dien" ("I serve") is embossed on both the front and back weighted covers. Front cover is detached. Album is in overall good condition with some fading and yellowing of the prints.
